"Po" Zhou -- Biography
Guangzhen Zhou (1953- ) is a ceramic artist, writer, curator, a member of UNESCO International Academy of Ceramics, a guest professor of Fudan University-Shanghai Institute of Visual Art, the founder of Chinese Ceramic Art Council USA. Mr. Zhou came to the US in 1989, received his Master's degree in ceramic art from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and his MFA in Special Arts from San Jose State University, in San Jose, California. Mr. Zhou has had over sixty articles published on Chinese art magazines and Ceramic Monthly magazine of the US. Also, he has published the books American Ceramic Artists Today (1998), Chinese Ceramic Cultural Sites-A Travelerˇ¦s Handbook (2004) and Carrying Clay Art on my Iron Should (2010).
Since 1999, he has been a ceramic cultural liaison between Chinese and American. He was a curator or juror of many ceramic exhibitions, such as "Chinese Contemporary Ceramic Art Exhibition-Denver 2000 (NCECA)", "American Ceramic Art Works in Shanghai Art Expo 2000", "Yixing International Ceramic Art Conference and Exhibition of 2001 and 2005", "Yixing Ceramic Art Traveling Show USA 2003-2004", "International Small Teapot Show and Competition at Saddleback College, California, (2004 to 2010)", and "Beyond the FunctionˇXInternational Contemporary Teapot Exhibition" 2009 (NCECA), the Best American Ceramic Art at the 12th Beijing International Art Expo 2009, Shanghai International Art Fair 2010, and his artworks have been exhibited widely both in the US and China included Shanghai Art Museum, Zhejiang Art Museum in China, National Ceramic Art Museum in Paris, and Ceramics Annual of America, San Francisco.
